Electrogasdynamics (egd for short) is a novel means of generating electricity. The principles involved are, however, quite simple. Small particles of dust (or smoke, fog, etc.) are charged in a low-voltage region and then transported by a gas stream to a high-voltage region, where the charges are removed. Work is done on the particles in moving them against the electric field and electricity generated (New Scientist).
